Rita Nissén (1997) is a multidisciplinary artist who is inspired by the natural sciences, puns, and humor. As an artist, she wants to offer new perspectives on things and ponder what it is that makes us human. Mostly she just wants to have fun and create intuitively with a purely aesthetic approach.
Rita Nissén does not want to limit herself to a single artistic area, and learning new things inspires her; therefore, she uses a wide range of different techniques in her artworks. Her work has its roots in painting with acrylics, but recently she has done research with natural, self-made colors. Nissén takes photographs of real life and the world’s diversity with a documentary approach. Sometimes the world is just too harsh, and the documentary approach may just shift to something nicer by means of photomanipulation or digital painting.
Rita Nissén works and lives in Keminmaa, Finland. She studied fine arts at Lappland University of Applied Sciences, and the studies were based on digital techniques. Her work has been displayed in various group and solo art exhibitions in Finland. The recent ongoing group show Kuvataiteen valtakunta in Mänttä includes her Luonnoksia series from her thesis Luonnoksia—Using Natural Colors in Art.
”To me, making art is an extended form of thinking. I love to learn new skills and develop myself as an artist. Experimenting with different techniques is allowing my artistic practice to evolve freely.”
